Rob Carlson, MD FACS is a doctor who truly cares. He firmly believes that lab ranges are one thing, but how his patients feel is what is truly important. Highlighted in three of Suzanne Somer’s books, Dr. Rob has transitioned from one of the country’s leading cardiac-thoracic surgeons to a doctor committed to improving the baby boomers’ quality of life; he has evolved to meet the needs of clients as well as the changing face of practicing medicine. Dr. Rob received his BS degree cum laude, double majoring in Chemistry and Biology from Valparaiso University, and his MD degree from Wright State School of Medicine graduating in the top 15%. He participated in cardiovascular research at Harvard University, and published extensively in burn metabolism during his medical school and surgical training. His postgrad training was in General Surgery at the University of Florida where Dr. Rob received numerous research awards and the coveted Woodward Surgical award (the top surgical resident award.) He completed his cardiothoracic surgical training at Shands Hospital, University of Florida in 1994, and developed a minimally invasive cardiac and thoracic surgical practice in Sarasota, Florida. He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and has three times received “America’s Top Doctor Award” in cardiothoracic surgery. The Consumer Research Council of America has recognized Dr. Rob Carlson as Top American Surgeon in the Guide to America’s Top Surgeons 2002-2003, and 2006-2007, and 2010 editions, as well as 2005 Physician of the Year by the NRCC, and recently the coveted Man of the Year in Medicine and Healthcare by the ABI. Today, Dr. Rob continues to be board certified in General Surgery, in Thoracic Surgery, and through the American Academy of Anti-aging Medicine in Age Management Medicine. A leading cardiothoracic surgeon and a pioneer in cardiothoracic research, Dr. Rob has perfected the latest procedures curing patients through surgical procedures as well as performing research to develop new operations, optimize recovery, and improve post-operative care. He began work in preventative medicine 8 years ago, being cited in three of Suzanne Somers’ books, Ageless: The Naked Truth About Bioidentical Hormones, Breakthroughs: Eight Steps To Wellness, and Knock-out as a doctor she recommends for his expertise. He retired from his surgical career to be fully devoted towards improving the quality of life of his patients in such a way that their next visit will be at the office, not the operating table. “Don’t wait until it is too late” takes on a different meaning in medicine. Dedicated to healthy living, Dr. Rob is also a three-time Ironman, avid runner, and has completed over 20 marathons. He is happy married and the proud father of an up and coming athlete.

Fit and Fabulous in 15 Minutes with Teresa Tapp
Wednesday Apr 20, 2011
Wednesday Apr 20, 2011
International Fitness Guru and muscle activation specialist Teresa Tapp joins the show.
Note: Refer to audio player below to listen to this episode!
Treat your body like a machine! This is the mantra of fitness expert Teresa Tapp, an muscle activation specialist, nutritional counselor and savvy businesswoman. Teresa knows how a woman's body works, especially women over the age of 30. For the past 35 years she has been chronicling her personal experience and collecting data from hundreds of thousands of female clients developing exciting new insights on women's health and fitness. She worked as a personal trainer, new face developer, booker and scout for several modeling agencies including Ford, Metropolitan, and Page Parkes. After working in an industry that demands body perfection, she knows how to get the female body in shape no matter what age or fitness level. Now, she is passionate about sharing her valuable expertise with men and women of all ages and fitness levels. Teresa is living proof that, even above age 40 (Teresa is over 50), your body can be a lean, well-tuned, balanced machine without spending hours at the gym. Many of Teresaís clients have better "machines" at 50+ than they did in their 30's. The T-Tapp Method of Movement Workouts are truly the most effective and efficient fitness program around!
Teresa has always had an ardent interest in health and fitness, specializing in Exercise Physiology and Nutrition during college and ultimately writing a detailed research paper on Metabolisms in Women Over the Age of 30. Her original plan was to pursue a medical degree; however, tuition money was tight and the fashion industry came calling. Working with models of all different body types and genetic heritage allowed Teresa the opportunity to capitalize on her education and gather statistical information.
The French philosophy of eating what you want and exercising in secret, along with the fact that models are constantly on the go, living in hotel rooms and unable to spend hours slaving away at the gym, led this cutting edge fitness expert to develop a novel approach to working out. Based on a copyrighted sequential order-of-movement, Teresa approaches the body as a machine, dividing the muscles into layers and systematically fatiguing eachlayer. Done without weights or body-jarring aerobics, anyone can workout for less than an hour and do it in the privacy of their home or hotel rooms.
While Teresa certainly enjoyed her jet-setting life in the fashion industry, nothing gives her greater satisfaction than hearing the success stories real everyday men and women have with T-Tapp - especially those over 35. Teresa's proven techniques are unparalleled and cutting edge, yet applicable for all men and women at any age. Because she completely understands the body, Teresa has created a program that will work for everyone regardless of fitness level. She enjoys making it simple, with explanations as to how and why our bodies work the way they do as a machine. In that way, we understand each movement or technique and how it effects the machine.
Now, with DVDs and a book, Fit and Fabulous in 15 Minutes (Ballantine), these secrets can be shared so that all men and women (not just models) can be the best that they can be and be in balance - body, mind, spirit and soul.
Teresa lives in the Tampa Bay, Florida area and maintains a high quality staff that is completely trained to walk you through any problems you may be having with any portion of the workout. It is also completely natural for Teresa to pick up the phone and talk directly with clients herself. There is a toll free number for any customer or interested person to call in and get their questions answered. This is totally unheard of in this competitive industry. In the overall scheme of things, Teresa Tapp is, indeed, a giant among fitness gurus!
Teresa Tapp discusses & answers the following:
- What is the T-Tapp Method of Movement and why is it more than a Workout?
- Can I really lose a size or more in a month?
- What is “functional fitness” and “mental fitness” and why do I need both of these?
- How is T-Tapp’s way of using leverage isometrics different from traditional isometric worksouts (squeeze & tighten)?
- What if I can’t afford to purchase a T-Tapp Workout to get started?
- Tip in Conclusion...

It Just Hasn’t Happened Yet with Dr. Karin Anderson
Tuesday Apr 19, 2011
Tuesday Apr 19, 2011
Associate Professor of Psychology and Counselor Education at Concordia University Chicago & author of the book "It Just Hasn’t Happened Yet" - Dr. Karin Anderson joins the show.
Note: Refer to audio player below to listen to this episode!
Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, Karin Anderson is currently an associate professor of Psychology and Counselor Education at Concordia University Chicago. She received her doctorate in developmental psychology from Northern Illinois University and has delivered a number of well-received presentations at national and international psychology conferences, covering issues such as identity development and family dynamics.
She first became interested in the psychology of women when she began to examine the complex emotions involved in her own engagement to be married. As she questioned her motivations for marriage, she pondered women’s roles and options in the post-feminism era. How much had really changed? After months of internal conflict, she ended up calling off her wedding two months before it was to occur.
Back “out there” in the dating scene, she became keenly aware of the messages directed toward single women—messages that appeared disparaging and illogical, yet hailed from reliable sources such as the local bookstore’s self-help section. Drawing on the data of other academic researchers and firsthand accounts of the many women she interviewed personally, Anderson wrote It Just Hasn’t Happened Yet as an effort to provide a logical counter-message of encouragement.
A compelling teacher and speaker, Anderson speaks to groups on women’s issues, single adulthood, developmental psychology, and family relationships. For more information, visit AuthenticallyMe.com.
Dr. Karin Anderson discusses & answers the following:
- What inspired you to write It Just Hasn't Happened Yet?
- Why did you see a need for yet another book about dating/relationships?
- Do you have a sense of how readers are responding to your book?
- Have you heard any unfavorable feedback in reaction to your message?
- Tell us about your website, AuthenticallyMe.com.
- Where can we purchase It Just Hasn't Happened Yet?

Knowing More About Liposuction with Dr. Fardad
Tuesday Apr 19, 2011
Tuesday Apr 19, 2011
Beverly Hills based Board-Certified Surgeon & one of the country’s top cosmetic surgeons Dr. Fardad Forouzanpour “Dr. Fardad” joins the show.
Note: Refer to audio player below to listen to this episode!
Board-Certified Cosmetic Surgeon Dr. Fardad Forouzanpour (“Dr. Fardad”) is a world-renowned physician whose work speaks for itself. Founder of the Beverly Hills Cosmetic Surgical Group, Dr. Fardad currently does double duties overseeing his own medical practice and running a Surgical Fellowship training plastic and cosmetic surgeons from all over the world.
Dr. Fardad’s passion for medicine developed early in life. Inspired by the work of his father, a Jewish doctor who regularly donated medical services to the poor, Dr. Fardad set out to become a local physician in his native Iran.
The political and religious climates in Iran interfered. Revolution was everywhere, and anti-Semitism was rampant. After finding bullet holes in the door of his medical office, Dr. Fardad’s father made the courageous decision to move his young family to America.
In less than two years, Dr. Fardad was accepted into UCLA’s prestigious Pre-Med Program. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology.
Dr. Fardad attended medical school at Midwestern University in Chicago. He initially studied pediatrics, but fell in love with surgery and aesthetics and its ability to dramatically improve people’s lives.
Dr. Fardad performed five years of Surgical Residencies in General Surgery and Trauma Surgery at Chicago’s top hospitals including Edgwater, Thorak, and Cook County Hospital. He also served as Chief Surgical Resident at Columbia Olympia Fields Osteopathic Hospital, Trauma and Medical Center.
Dr. Fardad completed his first Fellowship in Facial and Body Aesthetic and Cosmetic Surgery under former President of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery, Dr Richard Caleel. He then returned to Southern California to perform a second Fellowship, with Beverly Hills plastic surgeon, Dr. Bernard Koire.
In 1998, Dr. Fardad founded his own shingle, The Beverly Hills Cosmetic Surgical Group. The full-service surgery center offers non-invasive procedures along with breast augmentations, lifts & reductions, eyelash transfers, rhinoplasties, liposuctions/liposculpture, abdominoplasties, and vaginoplasties, among others.
Dr. Fardad has set the standard for excellence in cosmetic surgery. Boarded in General Surgery and Cosmetic Surgery, Dr. Fardad is one of only three physicians in Southern California authorized by the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery to operate a Fellowship Program. He trains plastic and cosmetic surgeons from all across the globe.
Dr. Fardad is also the inventor of the Umbilical Locator, a surgical device he designed to help surgeons locate the belly button during abdominoplasties. A common challenge for cosmetic and plastic surgeons, the Umbilical Locator has resolved a medical problem for which plastic surgeons had often found themselves being sued.
Following in his late father’s footsteps, Dr. Fardad regularly donates his medical services to those in need. He works with the Los Angeles based domestic violence charity, Safe Passage, providing free surgical makeovers to abuse victims to help restore their self-confidence.
Dr. Fardad is a member of the California Academy of Cosmetic Surgery, the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery, the American Society of Cosmetic Breast Surgery, the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons Society, the California Medical Association, the Osteopathic Physician and Surgeons of California, the American Osteopathic Association, the Los Angeles County Medical Association and is a Diplomat of the National Board of Osteopathic Medical Examiners.
Dr. Fardad Forouzanpour discusses & answers the following:
- Who is the right candidate for lipo? Why are some people not good candidates?
- What are some Risks people should know in advance?
- What should one look for in a doctor before deciding to have surgery like lipo...
- How did the doctor come to invent the Umbilical Locator and why did he invent it?
- Does fat move to other areas of the body after liposuction?
